The 2024 legislative session was the PLC’s first in Vermont representing timber harvesting and trucking members. Overall, it was a proved to be very successful as the PLC advocated to: 1) include $1 million in the state budget for contractors to draw down funds for water quality protection projects; 2) change the state’s timber trespass statute to create a criminal penalty for habitual offenders; 3) change a Vermont Economic Development Authority loan program to allow logging contractors to apply; and 4) influence right to repair legislation.
