At this time, Responsible Logger is only available to employees of PLC Members and Master Logger Certified companies.

An online responsible logging training program for new entrants to the logging industry. The program includes 5 hours of interactive online training with quizzes to assess learning on a variety of topics including: forest & harvest certifications, protection of water, erosion control, forest management, protection of ecosystems, forest rules and regulations, and logging business fundamentals. It can be completed on a computer, tablet, or smart phone, and can be done at the user’s own pace and schedule. This program is free for PLC members and Master Loggers.

Many educational opportunities have been developed to address specific needs in the industry over the last 20 years. Collaboration with state-level forest service representatives has provided on-the-ground learning opportunities for loggers throughout the region. Annual workshops place significant emphasis on best practices to protect water quality, reduce soil erosion, and protect ecosystems. Emerging trends, issues, and technologies that directly impact logging businesses are also addressed. These events are free to PLC members and Master Loggers.

Logging contractors are business owners who face the same challenges as other business owners. Topic-driven training sessions are offered to help members grow as leaders. These sessions are provided as needed and/or requested by members. Previous sessions have addressed topics including profitability, strategic and succession planning, conflict resolution, and communication.
