PLC Statement on Kennebec River dams sale

The past, present and future of Maine’s logging and forest trucking industry is tied to the health and stability of Sappi’s Somerset Mill in Skowhegan, Maine.
With news this week of the Kennebec River dams being sold, the PLC is urging all involved to ensure this sale does not jeopardize the mill’s operations or the livelihoods of the many loggers and truckers who depend on it.
Our message is simple: any solution must protect both the environment and the families whose futures are tied to this industry. We will be actively working toward that goal in the coming weeks and months.
You may read our statement issued on Tuesday below.
