Stillwater Lumber Destroyed by Fire

OLD TOWN — Officials are investigating the cause of a fire that destroyed a Maine sawmill.

The fire was reported shortly before 7 a.m. today at Stillwater Lumber in Old Town.

Tom Bernard, the son of the owner, told the Bangor Daily News that cut lumber at the yard was spared, but the mill building – where spruce, pine and hemlock logs are turned into lumber – was a total loss.
