Good Day,
Here are three videos for you and your employees to review. They are unlisted YouTube links that you can copy and paste into texts or emails to share with your team. The first video provides a brief overview of Grinder Safety, emphasizing the correct adjustments and inspections. The second video is the initial installment in our logger injury series. Dan will discuss the events leading up to his injury and what happened immediately after the accident. He will emphasize the importance of communication and having a plan to manage injuries when they occur on the job site. The last video features Ted Clark and myself discussing struck-by incidents. This serves as a helpful reminder as we wrap up winter and transition into the garage for spring maintenance. Enjoy, and remember to think safe, work safe, and be safe!

We are always looking for stories to share for the Unsafe videos. If you have an injury story that could help others, please contact me, and we will produce a video.

Grinder Safety

A 2.5-minute Hump Day safety video that highlights key safety concerns to consider when using a grinder.

Dan Phillips: Injury Story

Listen to Dan tell his story. He describes the damage to his hand while working on a chipper and how a miscommunication with a mechanic caused him to sustain a hand injury that will never fully heal.

Struck By

Listen to Donald Burr from the PLC and Ted Clark from Acadia Insurance engage in a 27-minute discussion about injuries caused by being struck, which ranks highest alongside slips, trips, and falls in terms of injury rates for mechanical loggers. Although a video accompanies this presentation, it is actually more effective when heard as audio only.
